The constant cross-section elastic retaining ring (snap ring) has a uniform constant cross-section. In other words, the material used to make the ring has the same width at any point on the circumference of the ring. When they contract or expand, they will exhibit elliptical deformation. As a result, they come into contact with the grooves at three or more isolated points, but never continuously around the periphery. These rings are made of flat or circular wires.
