Ball screw and ball spline gears as precision transmission components need to be lubricated and maintained according to the structural characteristics and operating conditions. The methodology and main points are as follows:
I. Lubrication Methods
1.Lubricant Selection
Roller screw
Low speed, medium tohigh load or enclosed environment: It is advisable to use grease (such as lithium or polyurethane grease), which is heat resistance and compression resistance and forms a persistent lubricating film.
High-speed, high-precision or heat dissipation scenarios: use a fluid lubricant that can effectively reduce friction heat.
Special conditions: use high-temperature resistant grease (such as composite lithium base grease) in high-temperature environments, andrust resistant grease in corrosive environments.
Roller spline
Completely stressed and high-frequency reciprocating: Lubricating grease containing extreme pressure additives (such as composite lithium or special polyurethane) is required to withstand high contact stress.
High-speed rotation: choose low-viscosity, high-adhesion grease to resist centrifugal force and oil splashing.
Precision assembly robot: special lubricating grease is recommended to ensure smooth微量 lubrication channels and eliminate "creep."
2.Lubrication Methods
Roller screw
Manual lubrication: Grease is added through injection holes or nut flanges to ensure that threads and ball surfaces are covered.
Automatic mandatory lubrication: continuous supply of lubricating oil using pumps and filtration system, suitable for high speed or long stroke conditions.
Lubricant filling control: The amount of lubricating grease filling amount is approximately 50% of the lubricating cavity to avoid excessive filling leading to drip or poor heat dissipation.
Roller spline
Lubrication on the move: Move the nut slowly through a special grease injection hole to ensure that each ball is evenly coated with grease.
Avoid mixing lubricants: Mixing different ingredients (such as lithium and silicone based lubricants) can lead to the breakdown of the gel structure and requires thorough cleaning before replacement.
3. Lubrication Cycle
Roller screw
Routine: Add grease every 100 kilometers or 6-12 months, and if oil lubrication, check the oil level and quality regularly.
Bad environment (high temperature, dust, heavy load): shorten to 1-3 months, increase the number of fillings.
Roller spline
Conventional: Replace grease every 6-12 months, shortened to 1-3 months for high-speed, hot or dusty conditions.
Condition monitoring: Determine whether visual inspection (colour change, metal particles), viscosity change or operating signals (noise, temperature increase) should be used instead.
II. Method of maintenance
1. Clean regularly
Roller screw
Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and metal shavings from the surface to prevent impurities from entering the rolled surface.
After cleaning, apply antirust oil (store) or lube oil (wipe antirust oil thoroughly before using).
Roller spline
Regularly clean the spline shaft and nut to prevent dust and debris from entering the circulation loop.
In acidic, alkaline or sulfide environments, low-temperature electroplating (such as black chrome plating) is used to prevent corrosion.
2. Antisepsis
Roller screw: Installation dust cover or dust cover to prevent impurities from entering, exposed areas coated withrust oil.
Roller spline: In chemically corrosive environments, use corrosion resistant materials (e.g. stainless steel) or special coatings.
3. Overload and collision prevention
Roller screw: avoid overload operation, prevent screw bending or nut jamming, smooth operation, reduce impact.
Roller spline: strictly prohibit overload or collision, prevent the spline surface scratching or loosening, transmission of large torque when the speed is strictly controlled.
4. Periodic inspection and replacement
Roller screw
Check whether the bearing and coupling are loose and the seals are in good condition.
Measure clearance and wear and replace worn components (such as balls and nuts) in a timely manner.
Roller spline
Check the amount of grease filling amount and seal condition to prevent leakage.
Replace key cover, shaft, etc. with professional tools to ensure installation accuracy.
V. Operational monitoring
Roller screw: by monitoring noise, temperature, vibration and other indicators to determine the operating status, find abnormal immediately stop inspection.
Roller spline: Monitor drive smoothness; check grease condition or component wear if there is blockage or increased noise.
