Ordinary splines:
Ordinary splines usually refer to a bite connection between a pair of metal parts (usually a shaft and a hole), which transmit torque through the spline gear-like tooth surface. Splines are often used to connect transmission shafts and working parts.
The connection method of ordinary splines is mainly through direct contact and meshing of the tooth surfaces, and torque is transmitted through friction. This structure can withstand greater loads than traditional circular keys and flange connections.
2. Friction and efficiency:
Ball screw splines:
Due to the small rolling friction of the balls, the efficiency of ball screw splines is usually high, which can transmit large loads and has a small temperature rise, which is suitable for high-precision and high-speed applications.
The transmission efficiency of the ball screw system can be as high as 90% or more, which is suitable for precise mechanical positioning and transmission.
Ordinary splines:
Ordinary splines have large friction, especially when transmitting high torque, friction will cause certain energy loss and temperature rise. The efficiency of ordinary splines is relatively low, usually around 70%-80%.
Ordinary splines are more suitable for mechanical transmission systems with low loads or low speeds.
3. Load capacity:
Ball screw splines:
Due to the rolling contact of the balls, the load capacity and transmission accuracy of ball screw splines are high, especially for applications requiring high loads, low friction, and precision transmission.
Suitable for high-precision equipment, such as CNC machine tools, robots, automation equipment, etc.
Ordinary spline:
The load-bearing capacity of ordinary splines mainly depends on the design of spline teeth. They can usually withstand higher axial forces and torques, but their precision and load-bearing capacity are lower than those of ball screw splines.
Suitable for general mechanical transmission, such as automotive transmission systems, mechanical tools, etc.
4. Application areas:
Ball screw splines:
Ball screw splines are widely used in occasions that require precision control and efficient transmission, such as CNC machine tools, 3D printers, automation equipment, medical equipment, and aerospace.
Especially suitable for those application environments that require high transmission accuracy and low friction.
Ordinary splines:
Ordinary splines are generally used in mechanical transmission systems, such as automotive drive shafts, ship transmissions, mechanical equipment, etc. They are often used for high-power transmission and connection, but the required transmission accuracy is relatively low.
