CNC slides can be classified according to their structure, movement mode and application characteristics. The following are several main classifications of CNC slides:
Slider guide rails:
Structural features: The guide is achieved by contacting the slider with the guide rail, and lubricating grease is injected between the slider and the guide rail to reduce friction and wear.
Advantages: Simple structure, low manufacturing cost, suitable for most CNC machine tools.
Disadvantages: Wear is easy to occur between the slider and the guide rail, and the working accuracy is not as good as other guide rails.
Roller guide rails:
Working principle: Guidance is achieved through rolling friction, and rolling friction can reduce wear more than sliding friction.
Features: It has high working accuracy and long service life, but the structure is complex, the processing is difficult, and the manufacturing cost is also high.
Application: Suitable for small CNC machine tools and precision processing equipment.
Ball guide rails:
Similar to roller guide rails: Similar to roller guide rails, but steel balls are added between the guide rails and the balls.
Advantages: Smaller rolling friction, higher working accuracy, and longer service life.
Application: Suitable for larger CNC machine tools and heavy machinery and equipment.
Linear motor guide:
Working principle: Modern electrical control technology is applied to achieve guidance through electromagnetic fields.
Features: No contact, no friction, so it has higher precision and speed.
Application: It is widely used in high-speed, high-precision, high-acceleration, multi-axis and other applications, but the technology is complex and the price is high. It is suitable for high-end CNC machine tools and automated production lines.
Linear guide:
Structural features: It consists of two parallel guide surfaces and sliders. There are balls or needles on the sliders, which can slide on the guide surfaces.
Advantages: Simple structure, good rigidity, high precision, and relatively low price.
Application: Widely used in CNC machine tools, grinders, boring machines and other equipment.
Rolling guide:
Working principle: Balls or rollers are used to achieve sliding, which greatly reduces the friction coefficient.
Features: The accuracy and load-bearing capacity are better than those of linear guides, and it is often used in high-speed and high-precision processing fields.
Planar guide (planar slider guide):
Structural features: It has the characteristics of light weight, simple structure, and easy maintenance.
Advantages: low noise, high speed, and sensitive response.
Disadvantages: relatively low precision and load-bearing capacity.
Application: suitable for CNC machine tools with small loads, such as milling machines, EDM machines, etc.
Curved guide rails:
Features: good load capacity and high rigidity, with high precision.
Application: suitable for CNC lathes, grinders and other fields. Common curved guide rails include tubular guide rails, V-shaped guide rails, slider guide rails, etc.
